Resolutions: more or less… January 5, 2011

Filed under: Better life — dayna @ 3:20 am

Ok, so I know we are a good five days in, but I am still getting used to the “real-time” nature of this blog thing:) These aren’t true resolutions, just the direction I want to move in this year.

In 2011 I want to:

  • Talk less. Write more.
  • Complain less. Pray more.
  • Rush less. Prepare more.
  • Argue less. Appreciate more.
  • Spend less. Give more.
  • I want to play more, sleep more, dance more, laugh more, love more.

I know, I know, all you fitnessy motivational friends of mine. They aren’t in the form of S.M.A.R.T. goals (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely). I do have a few of those too. They involve:

Spending more time in here:

Life

And in these:

Due for a new pair. Hmm, incentive...

Out here:

Sonoran desert

And last but not least, 2011 will be the year I conquer this monster:

East coast crew: no basements out here! 🙂

Yup, I’m pretty sure I’m going to make thousands on e-bay or Craig’s List. Did I really just post a picture of our messy garage on the internet? Seriously? Boundaries girl!

I’d love to hear a resolution or two of yours. Do you recommend e-bay or Craig’s List? We have mostly barware “collectables”.

  1. Yay, so glad you are sharing your blog! We like to do craigslist for the large items and ebay for smaller items that are easier to ship.

  2. Good resolutions! I’m terrible with them, myself. I don’t really have any, though I did start a fresh diet/nutrition program today.
As far as selling junk, I prefer ebay. You have to ship stuff, which is a pain, but I get a little creeped out meeting people face to face or, worse, having them come to my home. Used Craigs List successfully to sell a vehicle, but otherwise I’m an ebay girl!

I love that you started your nutrition program today rather than that cliche of the 1st. You’ll probably have even more success!
Thanks for the junk selling input- agreed on the potential creepy factor of Craigs List- although we bought a vehicle that way 🙂

  3. These are good things on your list. This year my goal was to just take things slower, and wouldn’t you know I’ve already gotten more done!

Wow Stephanie! Thanks for coming over. I’m honored. Steph (MM) shared your link in a comment on a previous post of mine and I am totally hooked! Re your NY resolution: Funny:) Not sure which is better but isn’t that just the way life seems to work? Plan to do a ton- get nothing done. Plan to slow down- super productive. Good for you either way!

I was reading another friends blog recently and she made mention of making monthly goals instead of year-long resolutions. I like the concept better because I can only deal in small chunks of life right now :). Happy selling, I’ve never tried either site.

  5. Ok resolutions:

Bring reusable grocery bags to the store with me when I go shopping

More bible study (we share this one)

    Buy more used, less new

That’s all I’m willing to commit to at this point:) Love Love Love this blog!

Good (green) ones Amanda! Those bags never seem to make it out of the van with me… Agreed on the buy more used. Don’t know what I have been doing all these years. Bookmans, Twice As Nice, and Craig’s List here I come:) Love love love you friend 🙂

You & I share many of the same resolutions. The “Rush Less; Prepare More” one particularly stuck out to me and spoke to my heart.

Tim’s a pro at selling things on Craigslist. We have an eBay account, but haven’t done much with it.
